Let Go Let Fro Friday!: Protective Styling

My Love for Protective Styling

The point of protective styling is to minimize breakage by putting that hair AWAY, staying out of it and wearing it in a way that keeps the ends protected. If you've followed my natural hair journey for a week or from the beginning you would know that I absolutely love protective styling! There are endless possibilities when it comes to protective styling. Twists, braids, weaves, wigs I love them all! Here are three of my faves for medium-long length hair.

Two Strand Twist

The first time I big chopped and grew my hair protective styling was a big part of my journey. My favorite style was two strand twists. After a year of being natural I started wearing them almost all the time.

Yarn Wraps/Faux Locs
I've done yarn wraps twice before my rechop. The install time for me was the worst part! It took me around 13 hrs to do them but my hair remained moisturized because the yarn held the moisture onto my hair unlike Marley braid hair.

Flat Twist Crown

This style I'd consider my dirty hair style. Whenever my hair needed a wash but I didn't have the time, this was my go to quick and easy style.
